I appreciate the grounding principal "acknowledge the harm" and want to name the challenge of being a in space that says it values equity and seeing an education leader here who has silenced my voice when I spoke up about education funding in my program that was biased against students of color, ELL students, students with disabilities, and poor students. I know this may not be the conversation we are having today but I think the experience of valuing diversity on the surface but not actually acting to undo systemic racism under the surface is a challenge experienced by other educators of color. Happy to have a follow-up conversation off line with anyone about this. lyssa.chen@gmail.com

Attracting people of color to the profession is fundamental. Retaining them is essential. My main issue as a Latino teacher of color is the glass ceiling for educators of color in majority white institutions...leadership is even more white than the teaching workforce

I am beyond grateful that we are having these conversations. They must continue. Students of color need to see people of color in positions of teachers, counselors, administrators. They deserve it! So grateful for colleagues that are engaging in this work.
